Marine mammal surveys

The company conducts comprehensive marine mammal monitoring studies for infrastructure projects in offshore areas, particularly in connection with the preparation, construction, and operation of offshore wind farms and other offshore infrastructure investments.

Our services include the development of a full range of observational and analytical methods to assess the presence, response, and use of marine mammals in areas of planned investments and their impact.

Thanks to the experience of our interdisciplinary team, we combine a scientific approach with the practical needs of the offshore sector.

Thanks to this hybrid approach, we are able to provide a representative database that will be used in the preparation of environmental documentation, which is essential for environmental impact assessments, marine spatial planning, and the development of management plans for protected species.

As part of our research, we offer:

• Visual monitoring (MMO – Marine Mammal Observer) conducted from land or vessels, carried out by experienced observers in accordance with applicable national and international guidelines.

• Acoustic monitoring (PAM – Passive Acoustic Monitoring) using hydrophone systems to record and analyze the acoustic signals of marine mammals and monitor the acoustic background of water areas designated for investment.

• Aerial observations of marine mammals, conducted from aircraft equipped with data recording systems and high-resolution cameras, enabling rapid acquisition of information from the surface of large water bodies.

• Monitoring using drones allows for observations in coastal zones, areas closed to human presence, and difficult-to-access areas, with minimal impact on the animals.

• Tagging (telemetry marking) of marine mammals (seals), including the installation of satellite or radio transmitters, enabling the tracking of movement, migration, and habitat use by individual individuals.

Our work is conducted in accordance with the principles of minimizing environmental impact and utilizing modern data acquisition and analysis technologies. Thanks to the experience of our interdisciplinary team, we combine a scientific approach with the practical needs of the offshore sector, providing reliable information essential for environmental impact assessment, maritime spatial planning, and the management of protected species.

Rapid deployment capabilities transform research vessel efficiency—from harbour to full operational intelligence within hours, maintaining detection precision that sees beyond surface conditions to capture complete aerial wildlife patterns.
